Enclosure
With reference to Ir. Grindle's letters of the 3rd June
last (19822/20) and of the 21st July (33724/1920) in regard to the vacancies in the Education Department of Hong Kong for ten Assistant istresses, I am directed to state that the Selection Committee for the Colonial Educational Service have interviewed four applicants for these posts.
The Selection Committee regretfully came to the conclusion that none of these candidates were suitable. This view was fully endorsed by Mr. E. Ralphs, the Inspector of English Schools in Hong Kong, who was a member of this Selection Committee. Particulars of their qualifications and experience will be found in the attached papers.
The Board are endeavouring to recruit more suitable can- didates for these posts.
